Team Championship Rules

(a) The Team Championship shall be played in such number of Divisions as the Executive Committee shall approve, culminating in the 1st Division Team Championship.

(b) A team shall consist of four sections (A. B, C and D) with one player in each section.

(c) All Member Clubs must enter one team only of four players, whose playing handicap 7 days prior to the date of the competition, is not less than A - 7.5, B - 9.5, C - 11.5 and D - 13.5. The names of the four players must be submitted in writing to the Hon Secretary before the Thursday of the competition either by post or e-mail.

(d) The competition shall be decided by stroke play over 18 holes.

(e) The aggregate gross score of the three best scores in each team to count shall decide the Championship. In the event of a tie, the 4th card shall be used to decide the winning team. If the scores are still tied all cards will be used as a count-back over the last 9 holes etc.

(f) Play will be in handicap category order.

(g) The penalty for lateness on the tee is:- DISQUALIFICATION OF WHOLE TEAM.

(h) The Second Division Team Championship shall be played on a date prior to the playing of the First Team Championship.

(i) The composition of the team may be changed between competitions during the Championship.

(j) The Member Clubs eligible to play in the 1st Division Team Championship shall be, those Member Clubs which occupied the first eleven places in the 1st Division Team Championship of the previous year and, those Member Clubs who gained the first ten places in the Second Team Division Championship of the current year.

(k) The Potterton Trophy will be presented to the Member Club winning the 1st Division Team Championship. Each winning team member and each runner-up team member will receive individual prizes.

(l) The 2nd Division Team Championship will be restricted to 18 Member Clubs and will be made up of the Member Clubs who occupied the bottom 10 places in the previous years 1st Division Team Championship and those Member Clubs who occupied the bottom eight places in the 2nd Division Team Championship of the previous year.

(m) The Chambers Trophy will be presented to the Member Club winning the 2nd Division Team Championship. Each winning team member and each runner-up team member will receive individual prizes.

(n) If, for any reason, the 2nd Division Team Championship is abandoned, then those eight Member Clubs eligible to play in the 1st Division Team Championship shall be decided by ballot.

(o) Any Member Club, having paid the entrance fee for its team to play in the appropriate Division for which it qualified, shall not be called upon to pay any further fee should it qualify to play in any other Division in the Team Championship of that season.
